An alumni of Engineering and Science Magnet High School, Marquis is a proud product of the Philadelphia Public School System. After graduating high school, Marquis went on to continue his education at Temple University where he received his Bachelor’s Degree, as a double major in Political Science and African American Studies, in May of 2009.
By request, Marquis served as a freshman orientation speaker for the school’s College of Liberal Arts incoming class of 2008. After Temple, he went on to pursue his graduate studies at Villanova University where he received his Master’s Degree in Public Administration, with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, in May of 2011.
While at Villanova, he was awarded a Graduate Assistantship from the Center for Multicultural Affairs. Through this Assistantship, he served as the Program Coordinator for the (W.I.S.E) Male Mentoring program where he was responsible for coordinating and providing professional, academic and social supports for male students of color, and connecting them with mentors. Simultaneously, he also served as the Retention Advisor for the (A.C.T.I.V.E) II Sophomore Retention program, where he was responsible for advising sophomore students both academically and socially.
During his undergraduate and graduate studies, Marquis also worked as a Project Assistant at the prestigious Dechert LLP, a leading international law firm with 26 offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Upon graduating from Villanova in 2011, he pursued a career path in Education Management. In 2012, Marquis was appointed as Program Coordinator for Philadelphia Academies, Inc. In this role, he served as Program Coordinator for Samuel S. Fels’ High School Student Success Center where he was responsible for coordinating college and career supports to high school students from grades 9-12. In 2013 he was appointed as an Academy Specialist for Philadelphia Academies, Inc.
Despite a demanding schedule, he still finds time to utilize his skills in finance, writing and public speaking. Most recently he became the author of two published books:Tools for Success: A Young Man’s Guide to Professional Development and Tools for Success: A Young Woman’s Guide to Professional Development..
Marquis’ passion is to continue to empower youth to reach their fullest potential and to help equip them with “tools” to become successful!
